Building a Better Environment with Chris Stark

Friday, February 12, 2021 - 11:00 to 12:00
Online event

At the heart of Local Trust and the Big Local programme, is a vision of empowered, resilient, dynamic, asset-rich communities making their own decisions on what is best for their area.

This is why Local Trust are hosting a series of talks with several leading experts and high-profile thinkers on how, after coronavirus, we can build a better economy, society, and planet, with community power as a core element.

Their fourth event is with Chris Stark, chief executive of the Climate Change Committee (CCC), which is an independent, statutory body established under the Climate Change Act 2008.

The CCC’s purpose is to advise the UK and devolved governments on emissions targets and to report to Parliament on progress made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for and adapting to the impacts of climate change.

The discussion will focus on the target to reach Net Zero by 2050, the CCC’s 6th Carbon Budget, and the advice it contains on the role of communities in tackling climate change.

This one-hour long event will see Chris open with some initial remarks, before engaging in a wider dialogue and Q&A session with participants.

The event will take place using Zoom and joining details will be emailed to attendees beforehand.
