Jamie Brogan (Chair)
Jamie is the Climate Partnerships Lead for the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute (ECCI). A Low Carbon Professional with 25+ years of experience in delivering business transformation, he now leads ECCI’s work supporting public and industry partners to most effectively use their influence to drive down climate emissions and in particular to develop place-based climate action. Jamie develops and leads a portfolio of partnership projects aiming to deliver impact at scale. By working with partners who can influence behaviours and actions at an area-wide or sectoral level, the team aims to understand and address some of the systemic barriers to tackling climate change.
Bridie Ashrowan (Member)
Bridie is Chief Executive of EVOC (Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations Council) and has over thirty years’ experience in the community sector, having worked in start-ups, social enterprise and business. Before joining EVOC, her she was Chief Executive at Space & Broomhouse Hub where she successfully headed the £3.2 million capital investment programme to open the Hub – a local community development trust in an area that has some of the highest child and in-work poverty in Scotland.
Irene Beautyman (Member)
Irene is the Place and Wellbeing Partnership Lead at the Improvement Service.
Combining public health and local government support to place based approaches for the health of people and planet, Irene is passionate about the importance of collaborative action around the impact of places on our people. How we move around, the spaces we enjoy, our access to local facilities, affordable homes, access to fair work and our opportunity to feel part of that place and influence what happens there. Irene leads the Shaping Places for Wellbeing Programme supporting and learning from local action to reduce Scotland’s health inequalities while meeting net-zero carbon emissions.
Teresa Bray (Member)
Teresa has been the Chief Executive at Changeworks since 2008, an organisation that has leading expertise in renewable energy, energy modelling and behaviour change and provides training and consultancy for businesses, community groups and social landlords.
She is a trained accountant with over thirty years’ experience in voluntary sector management. She enjoys knitting and hillwalking.
Dr Jane Hopton (Member)
Jane is the NHS Lothian lead for Climate Change and Sustainability. She has responsibility for energy infrastructure, sustainable models of care, organisational and partnership development in relation to the whole NHS environmental impact and sustainability goals. Her background is in the general management of clinical, facilities and health promotion services for the NHS and began her career at the University of Edinburgh as a psychologist and sociologist in public health and primary care research with interest in inequalities in health, housing and health and general practice.
Andrew Kerr (Member)
Andrew joined the City of Edinburgh Council as Chief Executive Officer in July 2015. His 35-year Public Sector Career has since included a career in Leisure where he became the Director of Leisure and Culture at Birmingham City Council and President of The Institute of Leisure Management and he has been CEO at four major local authorities in North Tyneside, Wiltshire, Cornwall and his dream job in Edinburgh.
He is now leading a £147m Transformation Programme for the council and is at the heart of Edinburgh’s Launch of its City Vision initiative 2050.
Dairmaid Lawlor (Member)
Dairmaid Lawlor is an urbanist with a multidisciplinary background, including Environmental Resource Management, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, Planning and Policy. He has worked in Urban Design at Gillespies LLP, Urban Initiatives and was Head of Urbanism and Director of Place at Architecture and Design Scotland. He has recently been appointed Associate Director at the Scottish Futures Trust. Dairmaid is passionate about taking creative decisions and using a multidisciplinary approach to make better places for everyone.
Andrea Nicholas (Member)
Co-founder of the Green Tourism Certification Programme during the past 22 years, Andrea has assisted in development of green networks and certification programmes throughout the UK and in Europe, New Zealand, Sweden, Canada and Africa. The Green Tourism Programme started in 1997 and has expanded to cover all of the UK & Ireland with over 2500 members. In the past 2 years Andrea has driven the development of a digital platform for Sustainable Management, GreenCheck, which is being used for Green Tourism and adapted for other industry sectors such as the NHS.
